A Magical Setting

A Midsummer Night's Dream has a very well defined setting, and yet it could be anywhere. It is assumed though, that this whole play takes place in England, naturally. Most of the story takes place in a mystical forest that is the kingdom of Oberon and Titania. This could be any forest, made much more majestic and fantastic for the purposes of the play. Here is an artist's painting of what the forest might look like.

The second place in which this play takes place is in the domain of Theseus and Hippolyta. This could very well be outside, in the English countryside, because the wedding could be outdoors and the action between the humans at the beginning could happen in this area as well. It could also be inside a mansion or castle even, but it needs to be very different from the woods. A puppet rendition of a stage for Theseus and Hippolyta's set that I find to be very interesting and good for ideas is below.
